DVVS Somayajulu has been elected the Andhra Cricket Association president for the next four years. Somayajulu, who was a vice-president in the previous cycle, had taken charge as the interim president after DV Subba Rao’s demise last December.
Despite not being allowed to contest the BCCI presidential election by the Supreme Court, Srinivasan’s position as the TNCA chief has not been questioned.Srinivasan has been heading the TNCA since 2002-03 when he toppled his cricket-administration-mentor-turned-bitter-rival AC Muthiah in the race for presidency. In the four years preceding 2002-03, Srinivasan was a vice-president with Muthiah heading the association. Viswanathan was elevated from the post of assistant secretary to secretary in 2007-08, displacing CR Vijayaraghavan. Since then, the India Cements heads have been controlling one of the oldest cricket associations in India.
