Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was reported that the south London side are closing in on a loan deal for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, although the Blues will not give the green light to his exit until they sign a forward themselves.
The 29-cap Belgium international – who has 16 goals for his country – spent the second half of last season on loan at Selhurst Park, where he scored five Premier League goals in nine starts under Roy Hodgson.
After 21 games of the current league campaign, the Eagles are seemingly missing Batshuayi’s talent as they have netted just 19 Premier League goals so far – only Watford have scored fewer with 17 to their name.
Palace are not believed to be in the market to sign the former Marseille man on a permanent deal because of his £40m valuation, although they are happy to pay a ‘rental fee’ to take him on loan once again.
Hodgson is reportedly content to wait for the Blues to sign a striker and allow Batshuayi to leave as the former England manager is making no progress in a bid to land first-choice target Odsonne Edouard, who could now be looked at in the summer instead.
Let’s take a look at how the Palace fans on Twitter reacted to the news…
This Palace supporter reacted to the news by saying that “there is nothing I want more” – it’s safe to say that Adam is keen on a swoop for Batshuayi, then.
Elsewhere, another fan named Andy said that he’d “love this to be true”, which is understandable given the Belgian’s excellent impact on loan last term.
Furthermore, this supporter said “yes” in favour of a move for the Chelsea hitman rather than a swoop for Everton striker Cenk Tosun, who the Eagles are also interested in taking on loan according to Paul Joyce of The Times.
Additionally, ‘Kev’ said that he “can’t stop looking” at the tweet revealing the Batshuayi news, before stating that it’s “too good to be true”.

Lastly, this pair of Palace fans expressed a desire to see the 26-year-old join on a permanent basis, with one saying that any loan “needs an option to buy” while another asked “why don’t we just buy him?” before referencing the money earned from the £50m sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
