29-Jul-2001Indian speedster Zaheer Khan, who is suffering from a stress fractureon the right shin, will fly to Chennai on August 3 for a bone scan.Zaheer was earlier supposed to fly out on Sunday but a team managementsource said the visit had been deferred after a meeting this eveningwhere it was felt that the left-arm seamer’s services were required inthe India’s two remaining matches in the triangular one-day series.Consequently, Zaheer, who claimed two wickets for 30 runs in India’sseven wicket victory over Sri Lanka on Saturday, would leave forChennai on August 3 after the matches on August 1 and 2, he said.Team physio Andrew Leipus felt that Zaheer Khan could withstand thepressure for two more matches.The source said there was no change in the programme of medium pacerAshish Nehra and batsman VVS Laxman who would return to India afterthe one-day series to have a check-up of their respective injuries.Nehra is nursing a groin injury while Laxman is suffering pain in hisknees for which he will have to undergo a surgery. Laxman’s surgerywill take at least four weeks to heal and he could be out of the threeTest-series against the Lankans from August 14.Nehra, who was probably carrying the injury before Lankan tour, may beout of action for two months and may return home after the triangularseries.
