According to The Times, Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is likely to seek a loan move in the January window, and West Ham United should certainly be in the hunt for the England international.
What’s the story?
Loftus-Cheek scored twice in 24 Premier League appearances whilst on loan at Crystal Palace last term.
The midfielder then impressed for England at the 2018 World Cup, and his performances at Palace last season showed that he is more than ready for regular Premier League football.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri will argue that Loftus-Cheek has made seven first-team appearances this season – scoring four times – but the fact of the matter is that he has only played 93 minutes of Premier League football.
The 22-year-old is at the stage of his career where he should be playing on a regular basis, and according to The Times, he will ask to leave Chelsea on loan in early 2019.
A number of clubs have been linked with a move for the midfielder, and there is no question that West Ham should be in the hunt for his signature.
Why should West Ham make a move?
West Ham are yet to address the future of Declan Rice, with the teenager’s contract situation going on and on at the London Stadium.

There is a feeling that the Hammers will eventually agree a new deal with Rice, however, and the Republic of Ireland international has the potential to be a future captain of West Ham from the middle of the park.
Loftus-Cheek would be the perfect partner for Rice, and there are not too many teams that would relish coming up against the imposing duo.
At 6ft 3in, Loftus-Cheek is a powerhouse in the middle of the park, and could become a real favourite with the West Ham fans due to his enthusiasm and technical skills.
