The Egyptian star provided the assist for Liverpool's third goal as Dominik Szoboszlai slotted the ball home at the stroke of half-time. He then created the goalscoring opportunity for Luis Diaz who converted the chance to make it six for the Reds. With the two assists, Salah became the first player in Premier League history to record 10 or more goals and assists in four consecutive league campaigns. He also became the only player to record more than 10 goals and assists in the league before Christmas Day.

In the second half, Salah took just seven minutes to complete his brace as the Reds took a huge 5-1 lead over the Spurs. With the two strikes, the 32-year-old winger became the fourth-highest scorer in the Merseyside club's history with 229 goals to his name, as he surpassed Billy Liddell's tally. Only Gordon Hodgson, Roger Hunt and Ian Rush have scored more goals for the Reds than the Egyptian star. Later on, the hosts attempted to stage a miraculous comeback as Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke scored a goal each, however, Diaz's late strike made sure that Liverpool walked away with a convincing win.
