According to Calciomierto, Manchester United have opened talks with Inter Milan regarding the signing of teenage striker Davide Merola.
What’s the Story?
After failing to agree on a deal for Ivan Perisic during the summer, Manchester United and Inter Milan are in negotiations once again. Only this time, the subject of United’s interest is 17-year-old Davide Merola.
The young striker has been watched by Manchester United for a number of months on the advice of Merola’s agent, the one and only Mino Raiola. Now, it seems that the Premier League club have seen enough to make a move for the teenager, although Inter are reluctant to sell him.
Merola has struggled to receive any game time in the Inter first team this season and is thought to be keen on a move to United this January.
Who is Merola?
Born in 2000, Merola has spent his entire career at Inter Milan, joining their youth set up before he had even reached his teens. By the age of 14, the striker had already been called up to the Italian youth sides.

However, his most prolific goalscoring record came last year, when he scored seven goals for the Azzurri U-17’s team. These performances put his name on the map with a number of teams across Europe.
Merola is yet to make his first team debut for Inter but is pushing for a start with consistently impressive performances for the youth team. However, the teenager may not get the chance to play for his beloved club, with Manchester United ready to make a bid imminently.
