Manchester United enjoyed a fantastic weekend of Premier League action, seeing their immediate rivals around them drop points at the same time as they powered to a 3-1 away victory to Middlesbrough.
Perhaps most pleasing of all was Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the Etihad in Sunday’s late kick-off. Both teams went toe-to-toe for the victory and regardless of the result, United were always going to benefit. However, the draw means that the Red Devils are now within touching distance of both should they win their games in hand.
It could’ve been afternoon that went much differently for either Manchester City or Liverpool but two poor misses from Sergio Aguero and Adam Lallana ensured the match ended in stalemate.
Aguero had a chance to put city ahead with a volley from close range, a chance that he would bury nine times out of ten. Lallana then went one better and missed an open goal from a Roberto Firmino pass, a dramatic blow to Liverpool’s top four chances.
As rivals of both teams, Manchester United fans of course loved every minute and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…
