As reported by The Daily Record, Rangers are stepping up their interest in Norwich City midfielder Graham Dorrans as Pedro Caixinha looks to enact his revolution at Ibrox this summer.
What’s the story?
The Light Blues are badly in need of some quality in the middle of the park with loanees Emerson Hyndman and Jon Toral returning to their parent clubs. With the likes of Andy Halliday not really getting the job done this season either, central midfield has become a key priority for Caixinha.
The Daily Record reckon that the Portuguese is desperate to land 30 year old Dorrans, with Rangers in ongoing talks to agree a deal to bring him to Ibrox.
The paper say that the Norwich midfielder would ‘relish’ a return to Scottish football to play for his boyhood heroes at Ibrox, after a successful spell at Livingston won him a move south of the border.
The quality they need?
With eight seasons of experience in either the English Premier League or English Championship, Dorrans undoubtedly has the ability and the experience to be a success in the Scottish top-flight.
Rated at £3m on Transfermarkt, the move for the midfielder shows ambition and shows that they can still attempted to bring players of a high standard to the club.
While he is unlikely to be a player that can drag the Gers forward on his own, signing him would at least be a start for the club and please supporters who would no doubt love to see one of their own have a big impact on the first team.
